You can make money or you can make excuses, but you can't make both at the same time. I have heard of a story of a man named Harlan, who was at the age of 65 this man has every excuse to play a victim. But instead of it he chose to be a Victor despite of his age and his statues. At one time Harlan owned a restaurant-motel-service station business he had build up over the years. He was once offered to sell his business for the amount of nearly $200,000 cash but he turns it down thinking that he is not ready to retire from his business. Unfortunately two years later the state had build a new superhighway bypassing his business. Within a year He lost his business and everything he had. Here was a man, 65 years old, flat broke, and no income other than a small monthly Social security check to live on.
With these things that had happen to him he did not quit and chose to move on instead. He took the responsibility for him to work something out to make him move out of his current situation. The only thing he knew is to cook chicken. And so he decided that if he could sell that knowledge to someone else.
So he loaded up his old car with a pressure cooker and his special recipe, and kiss his wife good bye, and went out in to the world to sell his idea, it was tough for him at times and often we would sleep in his car because he did not have enough money for a motel.
Restaurant after restaurant he was turned down, He was rejected 100,200,300, 1,000 times but this not made him quit. Instead he moves on perusing his goal to sell his idea. And up to the time he found someone who believes in his dream. And in 1960 Harlan’s hard work on the road begins to pay off and now there are thousands of franchise restaurant around the world,
With out this man’s perseverance on pursuing his dreams we might not have the world famous Kentucky fried chicken.
Despite his age and failure in his business Colonel Sanders refuse to give up and today his name is recognize around the world.
